For How Long Do Termite Treatments Last?

Termite treatments typically last for five years on average. It may achieve more than five years with liquid termite treatment compared to only one year with termite bait stations.

a) Treating Termites Using Liquids

The typical lifespan of liquid termite treatments is five years. An exterminator will excavate a trench around the perimeter of your house and put the liquid termite treatment procedure for your homes in Fort Myers, FL.

This doesn’t mean termites won’t find a way over in the next five years or a decade. Any holes in the chemical barrier might allow some to enter your house. Regular termite inspections and home pest control in Lee County may help avoid this.

b) Termite Bait Stations

Termite bait stations must be inspected and managed throughout the year to succeed. The baits will be carefully placed around your property by professionals from STAT Pest Control in Fort Myers, FL. As a result, eradicating the colony may take several weeks if the termites aren’t discovered for months.

What Affects Termite Treatments Duration?

Some treatments last longer than others, but the average duration depends on following below mentioned factors:

1) Termite Types: The tenure of a termite might vary depending on the species. The most frequent types of termites are dry wood termites and subterranean termites.

Subterranean termites eat the wood in your home by digging tunnels under the ground. When it comes to dry wood termites, they’ll burrow into the wood and devour it to the core.

2) Infestation Level: The extent to which the application from the termite specialist will last depends upon their degree of knowledge. The size of the termite damage is a significant element to take into account. For an enormous termite colony, eradication takes longer.

3) Home Environment: All the wood in your home must be accessible to the termite expert. The therapy will be less effective if these components are unavailable or difficult to obtain.

Blockhouse at Fort Myers in Florida

During the Second Seminole War, between 1835 and 1842, the U.S. Army operated Fort Dulany at Punta Rassa, at the mouth of the Caloosahatchee River. When a hurricane destroyed Fort Dulany in October 1841, army operations were moved up the Caloosahatchee River to a site named Fort Harvie. Fort Harvie was abandoned in 1842, as the Second Seminole War wound down. After a white trader was killed by Seminoles on the Peace River in 1849, the Army returned to the Caloosahatchee River in 1850. Major David E. Twiggs, then stationed at Fort Brooke (present day-Tampa), gave orders for two companies of artillery to ‘select a suitable place for the establishment of a post and immediately throw up such light works as may secure [their] stores, and remove from the Indians any temptation to which [their] isolated position may give rise.’ The new Fort Myers was built on the burned ruins of Fort Harvie. The fort was named for Brevet Colonel Abraham Charles Myers, quartermaster for the Army’s Department of Florida and future son-in-law of Major Twiggs. It covered about 139 acres (56 ha), and soon had 57 buildings, including a two-story blockhouse that was pictured in Frank Leslie’s Illustrated Newspaper, and a 1,000-foot-long (300 m) wharf at which ships could dock. Irvin Solomon notes that Fort Myers was described ‘as ‘one of the finest and largest’ forts of the Seminole Wars’. It was abandoned in 1858, at the end of the Third Seminole War.

During the American Civil War, Confederate blockade runners and cattle ranchers were based in Fort Myers. These settlers prospered through trading with the Seminole and Union soldiers.
